This Saturday, May 28, is our first Trail Day as the Osoyoos Bike Club!
We are planning to head up Strawberry Creek Road and start a clean-up effort in an area that has unfortunately been used as a dumping ground. This will be our first official "Trail-Day" and will give any adult members who participate the opportunity to receive $20 off their membership purchase for next year! We will record which members were able to attend and then send out a discount code for the website specific to that member in the spring of next year.
The Town of Osoyoos has agreed to let us take any refuse removed from the area to the landfill free of charge. Matt, the club president, will be up there with a trailer to load up.
The plan is to meet in the large area across (South) from the Osoyoos Wildlife Federation (OWF) shooting range at 12:30pm (link to location in bio). The OWF is located at the top of Strawberry Creek Road (dirt road) directly across Highway 3 from the entrance to the Home Hardware Building Centre.
Since this is a clean-up day and it may be hot out, make sure you come prepared with gloves, sunscreen, adequate footwear, and water. And if it might rain, appropriate gear for that too.
This is a great opportunity to meet the members of the OBC, the Executives, and show the Town of Osoyoos, The Province, and BC Parks that we have the land's best interest at heart.
One of the main objectives in forming the club is to spearhead an effort to sanction the trails on Kruger Mountain, and this trail day will hopefully be a small part in showing the above mentioned entities that we care about the land and aren't just a bunch of speed-drunk hooligans. Well, we might be, but we still want to show them we care about the land and want to make an effort to conserve its wild nature and leave it in better condition than we found it.
We will some some on-site refreshments to follow. We'd also like to invite everyone to join us at North Basin Brewing for a cold one afterwards - don't forget, as an OBC member, you get 15% off your beer or wine when you show them your membership card!
